I am trying to work on some black and white pictures. Sometimes it is harder to get a nice composition of light and dark. For many more wonderful pics go to site above at Monochrome Weekly.

Remember the film "Somewhere in Time"

Ruby Tuesday @ http://workofthepoet.blogspot.com/2009/09/ruby-tuesday_28.html

A little red in the shop window for Ruby Tuesday. This was a souvenir shop on Mackinac Island, MI. Do you remember the film "Somewhere in Time". It was filmed on the island and this shop was in one of the scenes where Christopher Reeves was looking for a coin. I was very impressed with this fact. I love to go places where movies were shot. Notice the reflections in the window. This was the Sunday before Labor Day. The island was very busy. Lots of bicycles. There are no cars on the island, just horses, wagons and bicycles.
By the way my friend did very well in surgery today. As always I appreciate your comments. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Camera Critters

If you do not like these guys then do not click on picture to enlarge. They look pretty fearsome.

I thought I would post something a bit different. These were taken in 2007 on the island (Cocoa Cay) where Royal Caribbean goes on the way to Nassau. There were a bunch of iguanas. Super big ones. They had their own little colony next to a large stream and underbrush. I especially liked the picture of the lady in the hammock asleep with them running all around her. I believe her husband was closer to the ground than she was, he is in a lounge chair asleep, you can see his foot.

Yesterday was a beautiful day here in Georgia. The humidity was low, sun was shining and the sky was blue. Getting to be a bit like fall. I even heard some leaves rustling. I love it when the leaves blow and run across the road like a bunch of little school kids. I really love fall. I hope it lasts a long time before winter comes.

My friend Linda is having surgery tomorrow and we are going to camp out at the hospital. We took her to P.F. Chang's yesterday. We had a great time. The food was really good. We each had a lunch bowl which was more than enough and one dessert which we shared. We sat outside and as mentioned the weather was great. We really enjoyed each other's company.

I spent some time making sure her computer at home was up and running. All connections in place. Even had the pleasure of talking with someone from the Philippines for a bit. She was too cute. She asked me to try some websites to make sure everything was running well and at the end I was typing in facebook and she said try facebook and I got so excited we were on the same page. What a sweety.

I love the fact that I never know a stranger. What a wonderful thing to get along with people. Sometimes I do get a bit cranky. I have to work on that.

Everyone have a great Monday.

SkyWatch Friday

This was at Seney National Wildlife Refuge in Michigan. Created in 1935 by President Franklin Roosevelt from the Great Manistique Swamp by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Believe it or not it is 96,000 acres. Some of the wildlife there is sandhill cranes, painted turtles, deer, loons, trumpeter swans, eastern kingbird and much more.

On I-75 north from Flint, MI. It was a beautiful drive. Farms, pastures, rolling hills, forest--very peaceful.

Everyone have a great weekend.

Ruby Tuesday for Today

Stained glass for Ruby Tuesday

This is a beautiful piece of stained glass in the window of the common room at Shadowcliff in Grand Lake, Colorado. I cannot give credit for the art work but maybe next year when I go I will find out. It is in a large picture window. The room is the most peaceful place and has large windows all around with the most beautiful view. There are comfy chairs and little sofas. Lots of books, lamps and art work. Great place to sit and just contemplate stuff.

The glass reminds me of the cup filled with wine and the cross. Tell me what you think.

Sunset under the Mackinac Bridge

I really like this picture. You can see some of the people watching the sunset. Their dark silhouettes are pretty neat if you click and enlarge the photo. I hope you all do not get tired of my Michigan pictures. It was a great week for photo opportunities and I took advantage of them all. For more pictures of the skies from around the globe click on address above.

Gratitude

Each morning I usually have my coffee and sit in front of my computer and read the "blogs". I am very happy I have found this opportunity. I read comments and truly appreciate each and every one. From those comments you find others with thoughts, pictures, problems, etc. Today I found gratitude from another blogger. Thanks to each and every one of you who spend a few moments sharing with others. I enjoy your pictures and your words. Keep sharing. Have a good Friday.

Today's Flowers

One of those images you see that you have to snap up in a picture. This was in front of a little motel in Indian River, MI (on the Sturgeon River). A nice little town on my way to Mackinac City. Funny how the composition was all there without any help. Those seem to be the best pictures.

Watery Wednesday

A cup of water dipped from Lake Superior in northern Michigan. It was crystal clear and I believe it would be alright to drink. Lake Superior was so beautiful. Clear, turquoise water. I loved my trip. Hooray for all of you who live close enough to the Upper Peninsula to visit often.

The red chair for Ruby Tuesday.

Nice collection of chairs to enjoy Lake Huron in Michigan. Thought of this meme Ruby Tuesday when I saw the lonely red chair in this grouping. I wonder if they did that on purpose or was it a special chair for that special someone....

Today is my daughter's birthday.

Today is my daughter's birthday. She is 30 yrs old. Hard to believe. I wish I could have one day, any day to do over. Just to see both of my children little again. My children are close in age, 18 mo apart. My son was born first then my daughter. I know we can never go back but I do wish I knew then what I know now....time goes by so fast. We never can stop and smell those roses long enough.

Watery Wednesday

As we are driving over the bridge in Brunswick, Georgia, the rain is coming down. My granddaughter takes pictures through the front windshield of the car. I like the effect. Good combination of the architecture of the bridge and water falling from the sky.
