Sunset, God's watercolor in the sky.

Grand Lake, CO at sunset, looking over the lake from Shadowcliff.

This was taken at sunset in Grand Lake, Colorado. This town is covered in snow in the winter but summer comes alive with boaters, hikers, etc. It is right next to the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. It is a beautiful place.

For SkyWatch Friday, have a wonderful weekend. Take care of each other.

Watery Wednesday

These beach scenes are at St. George Island in Florida. A beautiful island with a terrific state park at the end. Very pristine.

There is nothing like the beach. Feel the breeze, smell the salty air, the sound of the waves crashing. Yummy. Sometimes I just want to go for a day and walk. The sounds also are soothing. Takes all your troubles away. The Atlantic is very different from the Gulf. They both have something special. I like the blue water and white sand at the Gulf. The Atlantic usually has flatter and wider beaches. Of course there is the marsh. All those beautiful colors of green. Fields and fields of marsh and water. Lots of bird life. What a joy to be at the beach.

A good night in Georgia

Just started raining here in Georgia. Temperature is in the 80s. Nice and windly there for a while. No thunder or lightening. Took some pictures of the sky and in one of them is my Crepe Myrtle. It has gotten really big and started to develop blooms for the summer. This is a white one which is my favorite.

Well the rain has stopped. It took forever to upload my pics.

When I was a kid I loved the wind, thunder, and lightening. A storm made me feel so good. I have never been in a hurricane or a tornado and I have never been struck by lightening. I have never been afraid of storms. When I lived at home I would walk outside under the carport and just close my eyes and feel the wind. I have never been in a flood either but my house is in a flood plain. It was built before the law went into effect. I did wake up off and on one night when the creek in the back was overflowing. I kept looking out the window to make sure it never came to the house. I do not know what I could have done but I was watching it nonetheless. I think energy is built up when a storm starts. That energy must make me feel regenerated. I don't know. Any comments. Have a good evening.

Chicago is a great city....

The monochrome weekly...

Chicago new and old together. One of the nice things about the city is the combination of buildings. They saved many old architecturally unique buildings to blend with the more modern skyscrapers.

A burst of light....

Just got to love this firework picture. I had a really good time taking pictures of the fireworks in Chattanooga, Tenn this year.

Flowers make a wonderful study for the camera. Hard to take a bad picture. Have a wonderful week wherever you are.

Gorgeous Saturday

birdhouse sitting in a tree, vacancy
little gnomes

I think this is a balloon plant, it starts out as a box shape
then just opens into a nice flower

finally captured a butterfly

It is a beautiful day here. If you sit in the shade and close your eyes, you can feel a breeze that I think is a little cool even though it is July coming up on August. Georgia has a long summer.
I just walked around the house thinking about all the things that need to be done. I really do not want to do anything but fiddle around. Ha Ha. Took some pictures. My little gnomes keep getting knocked over. I think a squirrel gets in my pots. They love geraniums. I cannot grow them, they keep getting eaten. Chipmunks or squirrels. Not sure which one. They also love petunias.
Take a deep breath and enjoy your day wherever you are.

Sunset in Colorado, USA

There is nothing like a sunset in the west. These were taken at Grand Lake, CO this past May. Enjoy your weekend. Remember to care for one another no matter what.

Watery Wednesday

Took these the same day as the sculpture. The light on the lake was good in the afternoon. Lots of pine trees around. I really liked the look of the pine cones just lying there.

Redo pictures for Remember Whensday

Laurel Bloomery, Tenn 1975

Laurel Bloomery, Tenn 1975
I was 23 years old and living in the Appalachians. 9 miles north of Damascus, VA and about 45 minutes south of Boone, N.C. I went up to visit my grandmother's house one weekend and was bitten by the mountain bug (not really just the glamour of living in the mountains). Her house was next to a pretty busy road, mostly trucks and the other side was a wide creek with trout. As you can see in the pictures it could snow pretty good, something this Georgia/Florida/Alabama girl did not see much of. I cannot remember the year of that VW but it had gotten down to only 3 gears and looking at the picture lost a hubcap. I have many fond memories of living there. Across the way was Ruby and Arthur who had lived in West Virginia quite a bit but their home was Laurel Bloomery. They were truly mountain people. They had a little shed in the back of the house that had a wood burning stove. They could count on going out there if the power went out during a storm. They would make cowboy coffee in a big pot. That is water and coffee grounds, let it come to a boil, take it off the heat and wait for the sediment to go to the bottom. Of course your coffee had some grounds but no matter it was good. I loved those two. I would pick cherries off their cherry tree and watch Ruby move like an 18 year old in her big garden. Their most favorite meal was cornbread and pinto beans. I think buttermilk was included in that feast as well. I miss them dearly.

To this day I have never gotten over the mountains. I have been to the Blue Ridge Mts., Rocky Mts., Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and many others and always love them. They can be covered with trees, rocky with snow, high or low and they will always be dear to my heart.

I had a great day with my camera at Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia. This sculpture was such a good camera opportunity. It really came out pretty good. The expressions on the faces are quite distinct. I really love the face with the cobweb.

Having problems putting the banner on for My World Every Tuesday. http://showyourworld.blogspot.com/2009/07/my-world-tuesday-issue-xli.html

A good day with the camera.

Computer Art

My 11 (almost 11) yr old granddaughter's computer art. I really love this.
She is in Florida having a grand time with step great-grandparents.
Got her SGG on facebook. You know all the little ones are great on the computer. Must have been built into their gene pool by the great computer wizard.
If in doubt about the computer ask a 10 yr old!!

Big White Bloom

Pretty big flower. Held up a 16 oz bottle of water to show how big it is. I think it is a hibiscus. Photo was shot at Biltmore House Gardens in Asheville, N.C.

Chicago August 2008

Millennium Park offers dazzling music, art, landscape design and architecture – including the mammoth stainless-steel Cloud Gate sculpture

Chicago is a great place to visit. I loved walking around downtown. I cannot wait to go back for a visit.

Time is flying....

Is time going by quickly or is it just me??? I think it is flying by. Sometimes I just want to freeze everything and enjoy it all. Life just will not be still. Constantly moving and changing. Do you ever think about how long you have been on this earth and wonder why you cannot account for it all. I only remember a few major events, really. I do not remember all the nitty-gritty in between. Maybe if we journal we would feel more accomplished. I wonder if the "blogging" will be helpful in retrospect this time next year. I know pictures help but they make me a little sad as well, especially of my children and grandchildren. They grow up and change so fast. Time is really flying...Keep up with your I love yous.

Carnival in the shopping center.

Took these shots Thursday night when I was trying to find some sky. I have so many trees around me I have a hard time getting a shot of the sunset. I saw this carnival and thought it might make interesting pics. The ferris wheel has pretty aqua colors.

Saving pennies...

I opened my savings account today, put in $100. This is a good new beginning. I will add some quite often.

Every penny helps. I read somewhat that every time this person saw a penny they picked it up. You never know what this could bring you. Every thing adds up.

Speaking of which good deeds add up as well as not so good. Kindness, thoughtfulness, and prayers all add up.

Save for that rainy day. God bless us all.
