Start Your Day with Coffee and a Prayer

Had a leader meeting at work last night. Boss lady kept asking us "any problems". I said that there was just too much talking to the patients using words like "sweetie, honey, hon, baby", you get the jest. I really had no idea it would be a big deal. I thought she would ask the 2 leaders to maybe say something to the MAs but instead after the meeting was over she said to me that next time I should just mention it to her. Whatever. I really think it should have been addressed. I know we are in the south but it is too much in a doctor's office. We can be warm and friendly but not sound condescending. Any opinions?

  1. Exactly! What ever happened to no Sir and yes Sir, etc.

  2. I'm glad you spoke up, that is so annoying. Any type of office should be professional and sweetie, baby or any of the rest are very condescending and unprofessional. I would bet that many of the patients do not like those terms.

  4. There is a certain professional standard and that type of "sweet talk" isn't a part of it. Maybe some of the patients should call the Boss Lady or DR honey and baby... I bet that would get the point across.
